Some of you may be wondering, "Where are the infamous Un-Komen DJ's?"  Maine DJ's Danny DeBruin and Jason Carrier co-founded Un-Komen DJ's in January of 2001.  Jason has moved to California to pursue an Architectural Position with XOL Design in Beverly Hills!  Jason is managing the overall operation for Eduardo Xol from ABC's Extreme Home Makeover, Home Edition.  Marc Gosselin (the standout Emcee and Wedding Specialist for Un-Komen DJ's), was recently Un-Komen DJ, Maine Premier Dance DJ                       promoted to Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the Lewiston Maniacs Hockey Organization.  That leaves Danny DeBruin (a.k.a. DJ Danny D) with the reins to the Company.  We can't thank Jason and Marc enough for their contributions over the past six years.  Un-Komen DJ's celebrated with thousands of people and we all have some great memories to take with us.  DeBruin Entertainment continues to grow and will quickly become New England Premier Dance DJ and Wedding Specialist.  Thank you all for supporting Un-Komen DJ's, a division of DeBruin Entertainment…where Music is Mixed into Memories…

Changes in Technology have aided the “new school” New England Digital Disc Jockey

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

maine-dj-setup-2.jpgNew England DJ asks, "Is the rapid growth in laptop mixing set to spell the end for the traditional turntable user?

An iPod mixer, made by DJ equipment manufacturer Numark, is the latest item released that allows DJs to manipulate digitally-stored music. For some, the revolution is becoming so swift it is even changing what the letters "DJ" – traditionally short for "disc jockey" – stand for.

"Digital jockey is a DJ," Maine Wedding DJ, Danny D of respected DeBruin Entertainment told Modern Bride Magazine. "Just forget discs, go beyond discs. A digital jockey manipulates media of different forms, mixes them and produces an entertainment out of that."

At the start of the 1990s, being a DJ was very clear-cut – sitting in a booth, with two decks, a large collection of vinyl, a few samples and a baseball cap. But the 21st Century DJ has become part of the digital revolution as much as anything else.

Maine Disc Jockey “Seadog” night out at Hadlock Field

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)
Monday, August 27th, 2007

Maine DJ Danny D and the The Portland Sea Dogs welcome back Jon Lester for an encore performance against the Trenton Thunder (Yankee Affiliate).

Lester last pitched for the Sea Dogs in 2005 when he was named Eastern League Pitcher of the Year posting an 11-6 record with a 2.61 ERA and 153 strikeouts.

We expect quality baseball entertainment today at SOLD OUT Hadlock Field, as the Sea Dogs are one game out of the playoff race.

The Seadog disc jockey does a great job getting the crowd into the action and the weather will be PERFECT for a fun night at the ballpark.

Ad some atmosphere to your Ceremony…Maine Wedding DJ, DeBruin Entertainment, will provide Ceremony Music.

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)
Sunday, August 26th, 2007

Maine Wedding DJ has seen Wedding Ceremonies that last 10 minutes and others that last upwards of 1 hour.  Most Ceremonies (regardless of length) have four parts where music would add to the elegant atmopshere.

Prelude / Pre-Ceremony

Processional

Unity Candle / Psalm Reading

Recesssional

Most DJ companies will charge anywhere from $100-$300 extra to provide music and audio for the Ceremony (as this service requires a 2nd DJ setup and quality wireless microphone equiptment).   Some bride and groom couples will prefer to bring in live music for the Ceremony such as a violinist, sting quartet, pianist, guitarist, or organ player (supplied by most churches).  Music will add a special touch to the atmosphere of your Wedding Day.  Posted by: Maine Wedding DJ, Danny D, DeBruin Entertainment.

Maine DJ Service reminds the digital DJ…”Make sure your downloads are legal!”

Maine DJ, Danny D reminds all that in 2003, the RIAA, or Recording Industry Association of America, launched lawsuits against 261 peer-to-peer file sharing users for illegally downloading copyrighted music. Before these lawsuits, the legality of file sharing was widely debated, and all the while P2P file sharing was wildly popular.   Since the first round of RIAA lawsuits, there has been a lot of concern and many misconceptions over where the lines of legality are drawn. The following guidelines should help you understand what's legal, what's not, and what you can do to ensure you're not breaking any laws.

Downloading from the Internet is legal

This is a good place to start. No matter what fears may have been stirred up surrounding music downloading after the RIAA lawsuits, the first thing you should know is that it is 100% legal to download music from the Internet. There are plenty of legal downloading services that offer music for a per-download or subscription fee.

Not all Internet music downloading is legal

I hate to say it, but the best red flag that you're illegally downloading music is that your music is free and downloaded from a P2P file sharing network. If it is copyrighted (excluding music designated as free using a Creative Commons license or EFF's Open Audio License), especially from a major label, someone will be upset about missing royalties. While there are places where you can find free promotional downloads and free rights music from popular (and not so popular) artists, this is the exception, and most files shared on P2P networks are not this kind of file.

The Facts

To be as specific/technical as possible, downloading copyrighted material without expressed permission is illegal. Such music must be purchased in order to be legal. Here are some precautions that you can take to safeguard yourself against an RIAA lawsuit: 1.      Very simply put, pay for your music. This is by far the easiest and most full-proof way to ensure that you won't be sued by the RIAA. Basically, you won't be sued if you don't do anything illegal. Obvious enough, right? 2.      So far, the RIAA has only sued users sharing more than 1,000 songs. If you are illegally downloading music, I can't promise you that there is no lawsuit in your future. Keep in mind that, despite the fact that file sharers sharing less than 1,000 songs have avoided lawsuits so far, the illegal downloading of music is still that–illegal.

Hopefully this has cleared up some of the cobwebs of uncertainty surrounding downloading music using the Internet. And now that you know the limitations, get out there and find yourself a digital music downloading service!  Posted by Maine DJ, Danny D, DeBruin Entertainment.

Maine DJ asks, “Have you gotten what you paid for in DJ entertainment?”

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)
Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Disc Jockey rates vary based on talent, experience, emcee ability, service, coordination, equipment needed, music knowledge, mixing ability and personality.

Rates for the DJ industry vary greatly, ranging from $350.00 to over $5,000.00 with an average of $1,200.00 for a 4 hour booking. The best price is not always the best deal, especially if you are planning a wedding. As a matter of fact, surveys conclude that nearly 100% of brides would have spent more money on their entertainment and made it their #1 priority in hindsight.

A full-service disc jockey company will normally invest 12 to 30 hours to your special event but it may appear that you are only paying for "4 hours". Consultations, music purchasing & editing, preparation, set-up and tear-down, education and other business related endeavors add up to the overall success of your special occasion.

Booking a DJ isn’t something that we do everyday and we have all been to an event where a poor disc jockey has ruined the atmosphere of the party.  The entertainment industry is now flooded with inexperienced DJ exhibitionists, who roll in two speakers with an Ipod and call themselves a ”Professional DJ”.  To help protect you from these culprits, DeBruin Entertainment offers a free personal consultation to ensure we are the right service for your entertainment needs.  We understand how important your Wedding Day is and we will do all we can to make it PERFECT.  Posted by: Maine DJ, Danny D, DeBruin Entertainment.
