Maine DJ, Danny D performs at Livermore Falls Homecoming

Un-Komen DJ's renewed their musical dj talents in Livermore Falls, Maine, the site of last nights Homecoming "Casual" Dance.  First, on the football field, students were treated to a one-sided win over Yarmouth.  The Andies beat the Clippers handily, 27-9.  Because of the game the danced was pushed back to a 9:00pm start, with most students arriving between 9:30 – 10:00.

Livermore Falls students danced to Hip Hop and Top 40 hits with many classic "crowd partication" dances.  Sweet Caroline by Neal Diamond was the "throwback" song of the evening; everyone sung along to the famous track.  The night included our signature guy/girl dance with an "UnKomen Dance-Off" in the middle of the night.

The big surprise was the popularity of the "Chicken Dance".  5 students requested the song throughout the night and DJ Danny D was forced to play it towards the later part of the evening.  Oh, and what a smart selection it was!  Remember that song…you'll  probably all dance to it again at the next wedding reception you attend.

The only downside to the evening was that the cafeteria must have been 85 degrees.  Students kept taking breaks outside to stay cool in between music sets.  We missed having the "full crowd" throughout the night but understood because of the warm temperature.

We look forward to performing at the Livermore Falls Prom next spring.  Thank you to Sally Boivin and chaperones for volunteering your time so the students could celebrate with homecoming.  A win for the football team and a great night of dancing…

Thanks for choosing Maine's Premier Dance DJ and Quality Wedding DJ, DeBruin Entertainment.

Quality Maine Disc Jockey Service explains: Microphone 101

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)
Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

As a Maine Wedding Entertainer, a great mobile DJ is also a strong emcee. And a strong emcee can motivate a crowd to participate and dance bystong-mobile-dj-and-emcee-neads-quality-mic.JPG utilizing powerful voice overs during key areas of songs, or even over dead air.

To be a strong emcee you’ll have to master vocal technique by using:

  • Inflection

  • Articulation

  • Projection

Knowing the definition of these words is not important, however properly employing them is.

When we speak on that microphone, we must remember that we are broadcasting to the world.  We must speak slowly and clearly using the correct grammatical pronunciations.  This will ensure we are communicating effectively with our listeners.

Develop your own style. Practice your program. Plan your program. Understand your material, your artists/songs.

At all times, remember that regardless of whether you are a volunteer or a fulltime paid DJ, you really do have the greatest job in the world. Never ever take this for granted. Communicate, communicate, communicate and enjoy this wonderful vocation.

Maine Wedding DJ performs for Tardiff / Buxton Wedding Recption at Sugarloaf, U.S.A.

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

Professional Maine DJ, Danny D of DeBruin Entertainment and Sugarloaf, U.S.A. set the stage for a memorable Wedding Reception between Jon Tardiff and Jill Buxton.  With over 200 guests in attendance, the King Pine Room at the Base Lodge was filled with excitement throughout the evening.

Introductions began with the Grandparents and Parents to a traditional "We are family" music theme.  The bridal party marched in to old school hip hop artist Coolio's "Fantastic voyage".  Our newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Jon and Jill Tardiff came out to the famous Guns n Roses track, "Welcome to the Jungle".

Twin Brothers and Best Men, Matty and Mike, led us in a champagne toast followed by a blessing from the cousin of the Bride, Sarah Buxton.

Dinner was buffet style featuring Marinated Chicken, Steak Tips and Haddock.  (DJ Danny D thanks Jon and Jill for the courtesy meal).Smile

Shortly after dinner Jon and Jill shared their first danced as husband and wife.  Their selection was by John Legend, "Stay with me".  The lights were down and wedding entertainer, DJ Danny D lit up the dance floor with a dazzling light show.  The bride and groom dance was followed by Jill with father Jon to Rascal Flatts, "My wish".  Jon and his mother, Patty, shared a dance to Sheryl Crow's "Sweet Child of mine".

The cake was a 2-tier, chocolate layered masterpiece.  Jon and Jill "played nice" on the cake cutting ceremony; no pie faces this time.  Adam's Sandler's "Grow old with you" played in the background.

The last formality before the dancing began was an anniversary elimination dance.  All married couples were invited to the dance floor, joining the newlyweds, Jon and Jill.  Slowing we began to eliminate couples in ascending order on how many years they have been married.  Three couples in the family have been married over 50 years!  We asked these "marriage experts" their advice to our newlyweds, Jon and Jill.  Their response, "Yes, Dear".

The dance floor filled and the celebration lasted into the early morning hours.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Jon and Jill Tardiff.  DeBruin Entertainment wishes you a lifelong of happiness together.

American Idol and Maine DJ Service, DeBruin Entertainment look to expand “idol” camp offerings for next summer.

Maine DJ and american-idol.jpgAfter the “CM Idol” DJ Dance and Performance Camp at Central Maine Community College, Maine DJ, Danny D takes a look at the famous camp in Massachusetts…

Welcome to the first Idol Camp, a 10-day performance arts retreat run by the producers of "American Idol" for 12- to 15-year-olds with budding dreams of Hollywood fame, a zeal for being on stage and — in many cases — an encyclopedic knowledge of the highest-rated U.S. television show.

The creators and producers of the TV reality search for the next pop star are planning to expand their summer camp over the next few years and are filling a void left by steep budget cuts that have squeezed arts programs in U.S. public schools.

The Idol camp in northwestern Massachusetts, which costs $2,900 a week including accommodation and meals, may be expanded next year from oneMaine Wedding DJ and Master of Ceremonies american-idol-2.jpg month to three months with a West Coast summer camp possibly added a year later.

A typical day begins with workshops featuring professional tips from industry insiders — from singers and musicians to producers and even the stylists of the hair and wardrobes of "Idol" stars.

After that, stretched through the day, are elective activities, including singing solo, performing in a band on stage, music video production, improvised acting, choreography, set-building and basic auditioning.

The camp ends with a concert for the parents.

Camp director Donna Luther said the camp atmosphere is noncompetitive but the camp does not shy away from links to a show known for blunt judges and harsh truths.

The camp's blue-and-white logo is designed in the mold of the one used for "American Idol" — printed on tents and materials across the campus.
