On Tuesday night, February 5th of 2008, Professional Disc Jockey Danny DeBruin performed for "Winterfest" at Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor, Maine.  The 2 1/2 hour drive (from our home base in Portland, ME) was proceeded by a wild night of celebration as students danced into the early morning hours.

A special thank you to Tim Kennedy, Resident Assistants and EMCC staff who helped make this event possible.  I look forward to performing at your Senior Banquet in May.

On Saturday, February 2nd at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, New England Disc Jockey Danny DeBruin performed in front of 20 cheering squads and 1000 fans. 

Annually, the "Cheers from the Heart" celebration raises thousands of dollars for Maine Charities.  This was the 10th year and the 5th in a row for DeBruin Entertainment.  

Fans donated money towards "Cheer Grams", 50/50 raffle, sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, flowers, bracelets, and necklaces.  All proceeds benefit Maine Charities and Fuel Assistance Programs throughout Franklin, Oxford, Androscoggin and York counties.

After the final team performance the judges take about 15 minutes to tally up final scores for the award ceremony.  At this time DJ Danny D invited all the cheerleaders out to the mat for the "Cha Cha Slide".  Then, Brianna and Bridget from Edward Little High School (Auburn, Maine) demonstrated the steps of the "Cupid Shuffle" for all.  All cheering squads performed the dance,  incorporating their own "freestyle" into the shuffling steps.  As fun as the Cha Cha Slide and Cupid Shuffle were, everyone still wanted to hear the smash hit "Soulja Boy".  BOY, the place was rocking for this one!  A little hip-hop always spices things up for girls ages 13-18!!  To conclude the dancing, Maine DJ Danny D invited all the fans to participate with Village People's, "YMCA".

Professional Maine DJ, Danny D joined the charity fun, donating $50 dollars to the Fuel Assistance Program!!!

DJ Danny D, SMCC players and staff await the "scheduled" 6:00pm men's basketball tip-off here at Southern Maine Community College.  ONE PROBLEM THOUGH…..NO OPPONENT!!  

Hampshire College has yet to arrive, running into major delays with the sleet and freezing rain mix that is blanketing the East Coast.  Trekking north to South Portland for the first time as a basketball program, Hampshire College plays at Southern Maine Community College tonight in men's and women's doubleheader action.  

As it appears now (at 7:11 EST) this doubleheader may make a run for the wee hours of Saturday morning!  

After all, most DJ's are happy to pack up before midnight on any given Friday or Saturday night!  THEY JUST ARRIVED AT 7:17 EST!!!  GAME ON!!  (This one may not make the newspaper sports deadline)  Back to work –> I hope to celebrate with all of you soon!
